The Black Phone – Official Trailer
In Theaters June 24
The phone is dead. And it’s ringing.
Director Scott Derrickson returns to his terror roots and partners again with the foremost brand in the genre, Blumhouse, with a new horror thriller.
Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement where screaming is of little use. When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.
Starring four-time Oscar® nominee Ethan Hawke in the most terrifying role of his career and introducing Mason Thames in his first ever film role, The Black Phone is produced, directed, and co-written by Scott Derrickson, the writer-director of Sinister, The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Marvel’s Doctor Strange.
The film’s screenplay is by Derrickson & C. Robert Cargill (Doctor Strange, Sinister franchise), based on the award-winning short story by Joe Hill from his New York Times bestseller 20th Century Ghosts. The film is produced by Derrickson & Cargill’s Crooked Highway and presented by Universal and Blumhouse. Jason Blum, Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill are producers on the film, which is executive produced by Ryan Turek and Christopher H. Warner.

I don’t care what anyone says, the grabber could easily be the human incarnate version of Mr Boogie/ Baguul from Sinister
His documented crimes in sinister stretched as far as the 60s and 70s. Which happens to be the same period of time the grabber was alive. They both also happen to abduct children and practically consume their souls. Coincidence? I think not but the director of both movies will never admit it cause it wasn’t his intention
I was so surprise by this movie. It looked like a cliched and boring movie, but it's not. It's suspenseful, and thrilling. Nothing in it is horror. Btw, the music in this movie it's like so fitting to the action. Highly recommended to watch.

I just watched this and it was excellent. Mason is an incredible actor as well as the rest of the young stars in the film.
I don't want to give anything away but at the end of the movie, he looked and walked in a way that reminded me of what Patrick Swayze's son would have looked like if he'd had one. His Instagram photos show the resemblance at least to me even more now that he's older. He'd be great for the role if they ever did a movie about Swayze but in a couple of years when he's older.
He's a talented young man.

As a old school horror fan from the 80s. I would say that most horror now days completely sucks. The new Halloweens should be right there next to Season Of The Witch and Curse.
Point being, this was not that bad. It had a decent horror flow to it. And a decent story. Props to them. And props to Ethan who never does things like this but maybe he should. He nailed the bad guy roll. And Jeremy Davies.
Also…. fucking loved the opening credits

Had a lot of premise but failed to utilize it. The film overall had great acting great first half but second half just dragged to nothing and the ending was awful the boy suddenly becomes gary stu and beats a man 50 pounds heavier than him, the girls powers were not explained at all felt very incomplete. 5 out of 10
Amazing movie . Just watched it

This movie 🎬 was beautifully done. Powerful. The average person who doesn't like this genre would be surprised… It's actually a tear jerker with a lot of powerful messages about love, fear, family, friendship, and having faith in Jesus Christ! A must 👀…
one of the best most satisfying endings i've ever watched

lame ass movie
english: my favorite movie. it immerses you in the story in an incredible way, it's not a horror, but a suspense, it leaves you curious until the end and it has some scares, but nothing too much. Ethan's performance (grabber) is impeccable, and Mason Thames (finney) has become my idol, this boy has a lot of potential for his age. the recording is great, they record everything from every possible angle, which makes the film even better. what i'm seeing is a lot of people saying that the trailer showed the whole movie, i saw it in the cinema and, believe me, it doesn't. so watch it before you judge, you won't regret it.
this movie was good alright
One of the great movie I watched serial killer will learn something in this movie
It's kinda overrated ngl
No need to watch the movie…..idk why movie trailers are basically just a summary of the plot line nowadays.

watched with my dad last night. honestly one of my favorite horror/thriller films now!! with minimal gore they still managed to get me feeling the creeps. one of the shots of the (SPOILERS) dead kids, the one hanging upside down.. man. that had me actually scared and i watch these types of movies all the time!! a really well done movie. clean storyline, about as original as you can get nowadays. i like the inclusion that the grabber could also hear the phone. It was brutal satisfaction to see Finny come out victorious and reunite with his sister.

Earl Jovhan Cameros says
The best thing about this movie is that all of the escape plans the kid tried but eventually failed were foreshadowing his own escape plan at the end. The hole to which he supposed to get out, the rope for the window, the code, and the meat. All of it failed but eventually those failed attempts got him out.
